World Savings Day or World Thrift Day was established to inform people all around the world about the idea of saving their money in a bank rather than keeping it under their mattress. World Savings Day is an event created to increase the public’s awareness of the importance of savings both for modern economies and for individuals alike. Savings is important in the global economy and every depositor contributes to its development.
This year's gathering dubbed "imbue a positive savings habit during the pandemic" witnessed the attendance of the German Ambassador to Ghana H.E Daniel Krull German Embassy Accra, Mrs. Sheila Nana Boamah (Technical adviser) Ministry of Education Ghana, Dr. Arne Wulff, the Country representative of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in Ghana, and Mr. Burkhardt Hellemann, the Country representative of Delegation of German Industry and Commerce in Ghana - AHK Ghana. The Headmistress Mrs. Gifty Andoh gave a brief history of the school and expressed her enthusiasm about the savings awareness initiated by German Sparkassenstiftung.
World Savings Day in Photos
- The German Ambassador, in his speech about the importance of cultivating a good savings habit now and the importance it has for the future of the saver as well as the country as a whole, encouraged these girls to share how this could influence their lives and their nation.
- The young girls took turns to share their thoughts on their expectation for their country in 10-20 years to come and how they can contribute to its progress by making the right decisons and actions now.
